Nothing sucks more than fake dating a vampire in this paranormal romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of My Roommate Is a Vampire.

Amelia Collins is by definition successful. She would even go so far as to say successfully single. But not according to her family, and she's tired of the constant questions about her nonexistent dating life. When an invitation to yet another family wedding arrives, she decides to get everyone off her back once and for all by finding someone—anyone—to pose as her date.

After a chance encounter with Reginald Cleaves, Amelia decides he's perfect for her purposes. He's a bit strange, but that’s fine; it'll discourage tough questions from her family. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that he's very handsome.) For centuries-old vampire Reggie, posing as her plus-one sounds like the ultimate fun. And if it helps his ruse of pretending to be human, so much the better.
As Amelia and Reggie practice their fauxmance, it becomes clear that Reggie is as loyal to her as the day is long, and that Amelia’s first impressions could not have been more wrong. Suddenly, being in a real relationship with Reggie sounds pretty fang-tastic.

This audiobook is a charming rom-com with a paranormal twist, and the narrators, Daniel Henning and Helen Laser, bring the story to life with flair. Henning's portrayal of Reginald captures every bit of the vampire's quirky, old-fashioned charm. Laser gives Amelia's practical nature and wittiness a grounded quality that contrasts perfectly with Reggie's flamboyance. The narrators' chemistry enhances the fake dating trope, drawing out humor and heart in each scene. They elevate the humor and romantic tension with perfect timing, making the characters' slow-burn connection and laugh-out-loud moments even more enjoyable. This is a must-listen for fans of lighthearted paranormal romances. F.S.M. © AudioFile 2024, Portland, Maine

Levine follows her debut, My Roommate Is a Vampire, with another hilarious vampire rom-com that sees grumpy accountant Amelia Collins fake-dating her vampire client Reggie Cleaves in order to get her meddling matchmaking family off her back. Amelia dreads attending another family event as a single person, so when she succeeds in convincing handsome Reggie to pose as her boyfriend, she thinks she's finally found the solution to her problem. Despite their many differences, the more time Amelia spends with Reggie, the more she realizes she might actually be falling for the vampire. This dual-perspective paranormal romance featuring a clueless, sunshiney vampire and a practical accountant delivers plenty of laughs and steam. The story works as a stand-alone but also features cameos from Cassie and Frederick, the protagonists of My Roommate Is a Vampire. The audio is narrated by Daniel Henning and Helen Laser, who offer lots of energy, pitch-perfect British accents, and engaging characterizations. Laser's snarky, sarcastic portrait of Amelia is especially enjoyable. VERDICT An unmissable paranormal rom-com, perfect for those who enjoy their vampire romances with lots of humor and heat. Levine is an author to watch.--Shannon O'Connor
